    India hosts 28th CSPOC: Strengthening parliamentary democracy, global cooperation in uncertain world

    India is hosting the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in New Delhi from January 14–16, 2026, chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference, and an exhibition titled “India: The Mother of Democracy” will showcase India’s democratic traditions. The conference will focus on parliamentary democracy, global cooperation, AI in Parliament, social media’s impact on MPs, citizen engagement, and the wellbeing of parliamentarians. CSPOC serves as a non-partisan platform upholding parliamentary independence, exchanging best practices, strengthening multilateral partnerships, and supporting nascent democracies worldwide.
