How Imec is a grand vision in a fragile geopolitics
The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) represents a bold strategic vision to reshape global connectivity and offer an alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, but its progress remains stalled amid fragile West Asian geopolitics. Ongoing conflict in Gaza, uncertainty over Saudi–Israel normalisation, and the absence of concrete financial and implementation frameworks have slowed momentum. While critics question IMEC’s viability, India views it as a long-term strategic hedge rather than a short-term project, requiring diplomatic patience, regional stability, and sustained political will to translate ambition into reality.
