G20 Johannesburg summit: How to sail the age of polycrisis?
The G20 Johannesburg Summit, held on November 22–23 under South Africa’s presidency, is the first-ever G20 meeting on the African continent. Amid the US and Argentina’s absence, the summit emphasizes cooperation between the Global North and South, stressing that global problems cannot be solved in isolation. Working under the themes of Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability, key priorities include debt sustainability, climate finance, inclusive growth, AI for development, and food security. The summit integrates the African Agenda 2063 and aims to deliver reports on inclusive growth, innovation, and the G20 at 20 years review, while testing the forum’s credibility and global leadership amid geopolitical tensions.
