
In a first, China posts a trillion-dollar trade surplus — despite Trump tariffs
China posted an annual trade surplus above $1 trillion for the first time, driven by strong exports to markets outside the US. Despite a temporary trade truce with the US, China’s US-bound exports fell 28.6% in November, while overall exports rose 5.9% year-on-year. Imports rose only 1.9% in November, highlighting domestic economic fragility and weak demand.
