Britain's 700-year-old tradition comes to an end: No more Lords by birth

The House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) Act 2026 removes all hereditary peers from the UK Parliament, ending centuries of inherited seats. Some outgoing peers may stay until death, but cannot pass seats on. Further reforms to the Lords are expected.
