Bangladesh follows Pakistan template, targeting Ahmadiyyas after Hindus
Bangladesh is experiencing a renewed surge in Islamist radicalisation, mirroring Pakistan’s historic playbook. Recent conferences in Dhaka, including major Khatm-e-Nabuwat gatherings, have openly demanded that the Ahmadiyya (Qadiani) community be declared non-Muslim—signalling a shift in extremist focus after years of targeting Hindus and other minorities. The involvement of Islamist leaders from Pakistan, Turkey, Nepal, the UK, and even senior Deobandi figures from India highlights growing Pan-Islamist coordination. With Sheikh Hasina’s fall, Islamist groups are resurging, exploiting Bangladesh’s already advanced Islamisation. This trajectory risks deepening sectarian persecution and paving the way for harsher, Sharia-driven restrictions on women and minorities.
