New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks comparing Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to anti-Apartheid icon Nelson Mandela on Sunday came in for jibes on social media with the hashtag #YoBadalsoMandela trending on Twitter. The comment was panned all-round with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeting, Captain Amarinder Singh, the Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha and others tweeting about it The chief of Punjab Congress, Pratap Singh Bajwa, meanwhile, sought to charge the Badal administration with being inefficient, saying, “Under Badal Govt farmers are dying, 70 per cent youth of Punjab is hooked to drugs and; PM Modi calls Mr Badal India’s Nelson Mandela.” However, the Indian Twitterati saw the lighter side of the statement as well and soon #YoBadalsoMandela led to some hilarious responses on Twitter.
