It was only on 10 June that district BJP leader Om Veer Singh was shot dead in Muzaffarnagar by unidentified bike-borne assailants, police said. He was vice president of the Panchayat Prakoshth and a retired army officer. Before that Vijay Pandit, a prominent leader of Noida was shot dead in Dadri area. He had earlier aired his apprehensions of being targeted, but the police did not heed his pleas, his supporters said.
