A day after BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and other leaders criticised the party over the inclusion of Sabir Ali, the former JD(U) MP has asked the party leadership to put his induction into the party on hold. Ali has written to the BJP leadership to put his induction into the party on hold, reported PTI. Earlier, he defended himself against the allegations that have been levelled against him and said that he was willing to quit politics if the charges against him were proved. “I will quit politics if any charges are proven against me. One cannot simply make allegations against me,” Ali said. Ali claimed he was a “grassroots leader” but refused to comment on Naqvi’s controversial tweet and statements alleging he had links with Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal. Naqvi had tweeted yesterday saying Ali was a friend of the jailed IM chief and that at this rate party would soon accept Ibrahim Dawwod into its fold. The RSS has said that the BJP must have good reasons for inducting Ali into the party and pointed that the links with Bhatkal hadn’t been proven. The organisation’s spokesperon’s Ram Madhav however, tweeted about the resentment in the party over the decision and said that the party leadership had been apprised of the views: However, making the most of it is the Congress which has used Ali’s induction as a means to buttress their claim that Narendra Modi would ally with any political leader, irrespective of ideology, to come to power. “There is such a Modi wave that he is taking support from Bhatkal aides. They have no policy and are compromising with corruption and traitors. Its Modi’s Samjhauta Express,” Sibal said.
A faction of the BJP and RSS has raised questions over the induction of Ali into the party.
