Will protest outside PM's residence at 12: Kejriwal

New Delhi: Soon after he was released from police detention, anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal said they would continue to protest outside the residences of prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

"We will stick to our protest schedule; we will wait here (at Jantar Mantar) for people to join us till 12 noon. Then we will start from here and protest outside the three residences as per our schedule," Kejriwal, who is leading India Against Corruption (IAC) supporters, said.

"Why are we being stopped from holding a peaceful protest? The Congress and the BJP hold so many protests. They are never stopped. When Raj Thackeray holds a rally without police permission, thousands attend; they are not stopped, but are given police protection. If we protest quietly, why are we detained?" Kejriwal, said.

"No one can stop us. Hundreds have gathered here at Jantar Mantar. As scheduled, we will start from here," an IAC activist told reporters.

Anti-corruption activists Kejriwal and Gopal Rai were detained outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence at 7 Race Course Road while Manish Sisodia and Kumar Vishwas were held outside Congress president Sonia Gandhi residence at 10 Janpath. Sanjay Singh was detained outside BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's residence on Ashoka Road.

The six Delhi Metro stations, which were ordered to be shut from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in view of the protests, are open to commuters, said a metro official.

A former member of activist Anna Hazare's team, Arvind Kejriwal, has accused the Congress and the BJP of looting Rs.1.85 lakh crore through the allocation of coal blocks to private players.

Kejriwal Saturday had asked people to protest outside the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
