Will move court, EC against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri: AAP

New Delhi: Stepping up its attack on South Delhi BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, AAP on Wednesday said it will approach the court and the Election Commission and furnish evidence about the criminal cases registered against him, which were not mentioned by him in his poll affidavit. [caption id=“attachment_2035277” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Representational image. PTI Representational image. PTI[/caption] AAP also slammed Delhi police for its “slack approach” in probing the last week’s clash between AAP and BJP activists, in which Bidhuri’s relatives were allegedly involved. Addressing a news conference, AAP’s Tughlakabad candidate Sahi Ram Pehelwan claimed, “We found many criminal cases against Bidhuri that have not been mentioned in affidavit filed by him before Election Commission during Lok Sabha election this year.” The conference was also attended by party leaders Ashutosh and Devendra Sehrawat, AAP’s South Delhi Lok Sabha candidate and now the candidate from Bijwasan for Assembly elections. In a statement, the party has alleged that Bidhuri has just mentioned about four cases in his affidavit, but in reality, there are 10 cases against him - five in Sangam Vihar police station, 3 in Okhla police station, one in Ambedkar Nagar and Govindpuri each. “This is a clear cut violation of Representation of the People Act, 1951 and we are going to present this evidence before the election commission which is already scrutinising his case.” He also claimed that the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) report in 2006, in which security officer of ASI had lodged a complaint against Bidhuri for land-grabbing. Bidhuri rubbished the allegations and said he will send legal notices to Sahi Ram Pehelwan, Ashutosh and Sehrawat. “At present, there is no case registered against me in any court. These allegations are totally baseless. I challenge them to prove their allegations. AAP is doing this only to get political benefit ahead of upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. “I have been vice-president of my party thrice and now, I I am the general secretary. I have a good image among people and they (AAP) are trying to tarnish my image. I will seek the video of AAP’s today press conference and if they have said something against me to defame my image, I will send them a legal notice,” Ramesh Bidhuri said. Bidhuri said, “During the last Assembly elections, the then AAP candidate from South Delhi Devendra Sherawat had also levelled similar allegations against me and thereafter, I filed a defamation case against him at Saket court which is still pending.” Sahi Ram’s car was torched last week and at least 12 people were injured in a clash between supporters of AAP and BJP activists during the shoot of a TV news debate in which leaders of both the parties were engaged in a heated argument. Sahi Ram, along with other senior AAP leaders, met special commissioner of police Deepak Mishra today and handed over the footage reportedly containing clippings of miscreants setting his car on fire. “It is unfortunate that Delhi police is not doing its duty properly. We have helped Delhi police in solving the case and now hope that it would discharge the duty with utmost honesty,” AAP leader Ashutosh said. PTI
