Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday congratulated Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu for being chosen as the NDA vice-presidential candidate .

“The decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP parliamentary board is a matter of pride for all sections of the society,” Adityanath said in a statement.

He said that Naidu has had a long experience in public life and has ably discharged his duties both in the organisation and government.

He has made a remarkable contribution in the field of rural development and his selection for the coveted post amounts to extending respect to the rural population, Adityanath said.

“His contribution has made him popular both in northern India and all over the country…his love for Hindi is known to all,” he added.

Naidu, 68, was chosen at a BJP Parliamentary board meeting attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders in New Delhi on Monday.
