Vice-Presidential Election 2017: Puducherry opposition AINRC announces support for Venkaiah Naidu

Puducherry: The opposition AINRC in Puducherry on Tuesday welcomed the announcement of the name of senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu as the NDA nominee for the post of vice-president. PTI[/caption] In a release on Tuesday, Opposition leader and founder of the AINRC, N Rangasamy said that his party “wholeheartedly welcomes the fielding of senior leader Venkiah Naidu and extends full support to him”. Rangasamy said that Naidu had displayed his “excellent capability in discharging his duties” while holding different positions. “Naidu’s long political experience is exemplary. He has been cordial to everyone cutting across party differences. His simplicity has also been a distinct feature”, he added. The former chief minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the national president of BJP Amit Shah for their initiatives. “I convey my party’s wishes to Venkiah Naidu for his victory in the vice presidential election”, Rangasamy said. The party had extended support to NDAs presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
