Four ministers of state with independent charge were promoted as cabinet ministers, while two new faces, Ram Naresh Agnihotri and Kamla Rani Varun, joined as cabinet ministers. Six ministers of state with independent charge were inducted. The two-and-a-half-year-old BJP ministry will also have 11 new ministers of state.
Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office in the presence of the chief minister.
Rajesh Agarwal, who was the Uttar Pradesh finance minister had announced his resignation on Tuesday and said, "Now I have turned 75-year-old and as per the policy of my party, I have submitted my resignation to the party leadership two days ago."
Swatantra Dev Singh was the transport minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led state Cabinet. Speculations regarding the Cabinet expansion started after Adityanath along with Singh met party national president Amit Shah and party's working president JP Nadda last week.
