TMC member caught with 2.75 kg of contraband opium

Malda (WB): Narcotics Control Bureau officials arrested Trinamool Congress Gram Panchayat member of Bedrabad in Malda district Subodh Pramanik and seized 2.75 kg of contraband opium worth Rs 1.5 lakh from him.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of NCB officials rushed to the area and arrested Pramanik and seized the booty yesterday, NCB officials said.

Altogether nine crude bombs and a bullet were also seized from Pramanik, they said.

Pramanik was later produced before a Malda Court, which remaded him to police custody for 10 days.

Pramanik, a former GP Member of CPI(M), joined the TMC last year.

The NCB officials on Thursday brought Pramanik to Kolkata for interrogation.
