Those who raised Ram slogans are running govt now, says Nitin Gadkari

Keeping up the tradition of BJP ministers who kick up a row with just a statement, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday at a public gathering said, “Those who raised the Ram slogans are running the government now. We are a government of Ram Bhakts (devotees).” [caption id=“attachment_2057891” align=“alignleft” width=“380” class=" “] ![Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. PTI[/caption] Gadkari’s comments came a day after, the Union Minister  announced the construction of ‘Ram-Janki Marg’ at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore. The road will connect Ayodhya with Janakpur in Nepal, to which Sita, the wife of Lord Rama in the epic ‘Ramayana’, belonged, PTI had reported on Tuesday. Interlinking the development of villages with development of roads, Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday announced a grant of Rs 50,000 crore by the end of this year for construction of roads in Uttar Pradesh. Gadkari was speaking at the launch of road projects. “From Ayodhya to Chitrakoot, this is a government of Ram Bhakts, of those who chant Jai Shri Ram,” NDTV quoted the Union Minister as saying. Trying hard to distance himself from the pro-Hindu image, Gadkari’s comments will not make things easy for Narendra Modi and his developmental agenda. Recently, BJP leaders like Sakshi Maharaj and Sadhvi Prachi have made headlines with their bizarre and sometimes ridiculous comments.
