Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said that there was a deliberate attempt at creating communal tension in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.
Mulayam, who was speaking after a meeting of ’non-Congress non-BJP’ secular parties said, “There was a deliberate attempt to create communal disharmony in Uttar Pradesh,we are together trying to fight these evils.”
Mulayam added that he has made sure that Muslims in Muzaffarnagar don’t have to live in fear and necessary steps have already been taken to ensure communal harmony in the state.
“We will defeat communal forces.. all the 17 parties have united to fight them,” Mulayam said.
Leaders of more than a dozen parties, including the NCP, met in New Delhi today to discuss the Third front.
The convention in New Delhi was also attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former prime minister HD Deve Gowda leaders of Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) from Odisha, besides leaders of the four Left parties, reported The Hindustan Times.
Mulayam had earlier said that a Third Front formation is inevitable, but only after the Lok Sabha elections.
The convention was sponsored by the Left parties in hope of a non-BJP non-Congress led coalition.
