There is no brother or sister when it comes to elections: Lalu Yadav

Patna: There is no brother or sister in a poll battle, said RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s wife Rabri Devi, who is pitted against her brother Sadhu Yadav in Bihar’s Saran Lok Sabha constituency. She described her brother as “an enemy”. Rabri Devi said that there is no brother or sister but only rival in poll battle Wednesday, a day after Sadhu Yadav, a controversial former MP, announced that he will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Saran. “There cannot be any agreement with an enemy. Saran’s people will teach him a hard lesson in polls,” Rabri Devi, a former Bihar chief minister, told media persons minutes before leaving for campaign in Saran, about 50 km from here. Rabri’s younger son Tejasvi Yadav, who is one of the star campaigners of the party, said that Sadhu Yadav is my maternal uncle but he is doing a big mistake by contesting against my mother. Only result will prove it,” he said. Sadhu, who is Lalu’s brother-in-law, said that he will contest polls from Saran to challenge candidates of mainstream political parties, who have neglected its development. Lalu had said he did not care for Sadhu in the fray. “There will be no impact of Sadhu in fray from Saran. He is not an issue for us,” Lalu told media here. Sadhu Yadav was a powerful leader during the Lalu-Rabri rule in Bihar. Rabri Devi was fielded by RJD in Saran from where Lalu Prasad won in 2009. But, he had to quit after being convicted in a case of the multi-crore fodder scam last year. Sadhu deserted RJD five years ago and joined the Congress. Later, he also quit Congress and tried to join the BJP. BJP has fielded Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Saran. The Congress and the RJD early this month announced their alliance under which RJD was to contest 27 of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, the Congress 12 and the Nationalist Congress Party one. IANS
