Watch: Time-lapse video of a dog-lover chronicling his sick pet's healthy days

When Dave Meinert, a South African film-maker rescued Pegasus, a Great Dane bred by backyard breeders, he did not know how long she would live. Pegasus had a spew of complications because of her irresponsible breeders along with health-related problems such as diarrhea and skin-allergies and it was already predicted that she would go deaf and blind. Screengrab from video[/caption] “Most of her siblings died.” Dave Meinert told The Huffington Post However, that did not deter him from taking the pup who was only four weeks old then, home. According to him, by taking her home he could ensure that she would be looked after and not left to die. “When I saw a picture of her my heart melted. I knew what I was getting into, that she would be potentially very sick. Besides scooping up serious results from constant stomach problems and waiting at the vet, things were OK.” Meinert told Buzzfeed. As she still had time, Meinert decided to make everyday with Pegasus count and started recording her as she grew up. The result is a powerful and heartwarming time-lapse video titled “The Pegasus Project” which captures the dog developing with astonishing speed. For it, Meinert took the same photo of Pegasus on a treadmill nearly everyday for five months. He added that since making the video, Pegasus’s health has been okay though she gets sick often.
