Terror attack can take place despite best security cover, says BJP

Patna: Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday claimed that incidents like the terror attack on Parliament, which occurred during the party’s rule, could take place despite best security arrangements. AFP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/sushilmodi-afp.jpg) Bihar BJP chief Sushil Kumar Modi. AFP[/caption] Modi, reacting to remarks by some rival JD(U) leaders about the terror attack on Parliament, however, reiterated that grave security lapses had allowed the perpetrators to carry out the serial blasts at the Gandhi Maidan here on 27 October which claimed six lives and was the second such incident in Bihar in three months. Demanding resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar once again for providing ‘inadequate’ security for the ‘Hunkar rally’, he claimed that in comparison, 13,000 policemen were deployed and CCTVs and metal detectors installed, while dog squads were used for JD(U)’s ‘Adhikar Rally’ at the same venue on November 4 last year. Modi said that the recent JD(U) conclave at Rajgir attended by 5,000 party leaders and workers also had multi-layered security. If the chief minister was so sure about his facts about security measures for the BJP rally, then he should give a pointed response instead of giving sermons to his rival party, Modi said. He said that his party would raise the Patna serial blasts issue during the winter session of the Assembly beginning from 6 December. The former deputy chief minister complimented police officials for doing their best to ensure security for the rally and alleged that it was the political leadership which was to blame for the security lapses. Disapproving of party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi’s “insane” remarks about Kumar, he asked leaders of both parties to adopt restraint. PTI
