Team Anna backs Bedi, says she did nothing wrong

Team Anna came out strongly in support of Kiran Bedi today. Team Anna members have claimed that Anna feels there is ‘absolutely’ nothing wrong in what she did as she was transferring money for charity, adding that inflating travel reimbursements was for a larger cause. Anna is expected to make a statement later today and, meanwhile sources close to Anna have claimed that Anna feels repeated controversies being raised against Team Anna members are a part of a larger conspiracy to divide the team and diffuse the movement. PTI”] [/caption] The Indian Express had claimed in today’s  national edition that Team Anna member Kiran Bedi inflated her travel expenses and charged NGOs and seminar organisers business class travel fare while travelling in economy class. Defending herself, earlier today, Kiran Bedi had contended that the balance amount was used for charity and was added to her NGO’s account. She had claimed that no money was used by her for personal gains. Following the allegations, Congress came out strongly against Kiran Bedi and asked her to come clean before she campaigned against corruption. “One colleague of Anna Hazare demands plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, the other says Anna is above Parliament and now the third one is found charging more money from her hosts than she actually paid on her airfare. All of them are now showing their true colours,” Rashid Alvi, Congress spokesperson said.
