Mumbai: Calling Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi a messiah of the people, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj today praised his strength for moving forward despite scathing criticism by opposition political parties and critical media reports in the last nine years. Swaraj took on the Centre in her speech at the venue of Modi’s Sadbhavana Fast saying the UPA government has not supported the state in its development. She also referred to the CBI grilling of the chief minister and the recent appointment of the Lokayukta in the state as a dictatorial move by the Centre. [/caption] “Where else in India you would find a state Lokayukta is appointed without consulting the chief minister?” Swaraj asked. Swaraj in her speech sought to portray Modi as a secular and Muslim-friendly leader citing a recent example mentioned by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti in a NIC meeting few days back in New Delhi. “Our political opponent and PDP head Mehbooba Mufti praised Modi for allowing a Muslim entrepreneur to set up factory. Modi not only gave time to the entrepreneur but also roped in all the required officials and cleared the proposal in half an hour,” Swaraj said referring to Mufti. Before appealing to Modi to end his fast, Swaraj appealed to the people to vote by judging the work done and not on media reports and views by political opposition.
