Sushil Kumar Modi in race to spread lies against government: JD(U)

Patna: With BJP going offensive against Nitish Kumar-led government after split in NDA, ruling JD(U) today hit back at its leader Sushil Kumar Modi for dishing out "falsehood" about increasing salary of contractual teachers and other issues.

"After they (BJP) leaders were shown the doors, they have been spreading falsehood against the state government," Water Resources Minister Vijay Chaudhary told reporters. Chaudhary, a close confidante of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, made a scathing attack particularly on Sushil Kumar

Pointing to Modi taking up the case of nearly 2.25 lakh contractual teachers and demanding the state government to double their salary, a demand which he said he always supported even when he was in the government, Chaudhary said "Modi was Finance minister and considered number two in the NDA government so who had stopped him from distributing goodies to the teachers."

He said, "Modi seems to be in race with RJD President Lalu Prasad in spreading lies against government and shedding crocodile tears for teachers and other sections of society." Chaudhary, who earlier served as JD(U) state president, blamed BJP for acting as "irresponsible" opposition party and advised them to speak with caution about things in which they were equal partner in the government.

"They staged a walkout during confidence vote immediately after speech of new leader of opposition Nand Kishore Yadav not even waiting for response of the government," he said and questioned BJP sincerity as opposition party.
