3:20 pm: KCR wins with high margin, but unlikely to go to Parliament

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao wins Medak Lok Sabha seat, defeating nearest Congress rival Sravan Kumar Reddy by a margin of more than 3.97 lakh votes.

In Kerala, independent candidate and actor Innocent, is also set to win the Chalakuddy seat and could be heading to the Lok Sabha.

1:20 pm: Shashi Tharoor leads by 4,000 votes

Ok, so we may have been a little premature in writing him off but it Shashi Tharoor is still very much in the running.

He’s presently leading by 4,000 votes in Thiruvanthapuram. O Rajagopal will be watching the next few rounds of counting very closely.

12:59 pm: Jayalalithaa says they will be a responsible national party

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa has welcomed the verdict for now and

“Trends show the AIADMK is the 3rd largest party nationally, we will function as a responsible political party,” she said.

She may have hoped to be kingmaker but it doesn’t look like it will happen.

12:40 pm: Nilekani concedes defeat

NDTV reports that Congress’s Nandan Nilekani has conceded defeat in the seat of Bangalore south. His former colleague, V Balakrishnan, however, needn’t bother and should perhaps be worried about holding on to his deposit.

11:40 am: YSR Congress chief’s mother Vijayamma is presently trailing in Vishakapatnam

The YSR chief’s mother was supposed to be a shoo-in for the seat and was expected to win comfortably, but instead finds herself trailing the TDP candidate presently.

11:20 am: Former Infosys colleagues Balakrishnan, Nilekani trailing

Both the former Infosys executives are presently trailing in Bangalore. V Balakrishnan is trailing in Bangalore Central by a wide margin and has only got around 5,000 votes so far. PC Mohan of the BJP on the other hand has over 90,000 votes and looks good to win if he can beat away Rizwan Arshad of the Congress who trails by just 7,000 votes presently.

Nilekani on the other hand has put up a better fight but is leading BJP’s Ananth Kumar by around 13,000 votes.

10:59 am: Pallam Raju looks set to lose

Minister for HRD Pallam Raju is also trailing and could be out of the Lok Sabha this year.

10:50 am: Tharoor trailing by around 18,000 votes

Shashi Tharoor is now trailing by around 18,000 votes.

Nandan Nilekani is still trailing but there are no indications that he will definitely lose this seat. There are quite a few more rounds of counting to go.

10:20 am: Jayalalithaa set to sweep Tamil Nadu

Latest leads indicate that the AIADMK is leading in 37 seats presently.

Firstpost editor G Pramod Kumar says: In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK is leading in 37 constituencies - a stupdendous record. If the party maintains this lead till the end, it will surpass all the exit-poll predictions which gave it 22-35 seats.

Ever since Jayalalithaa came to power in the state, she had been exhorting her cadres to work towards gettting all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the state so that the party can influence the government formation in Delhi.

However, the numbers may not be of very effective use for Jayalalithaa in Delhi because the NDA is poised to win over 290 seats and will be capable of forming a government on its own.

Even if it ends up in a super-NDA structure, the AIADMK will not be able to flex its muscles as much as it could have, had the lead of NDA been lower.

10:00 am: Tharoor now trails by 10,000 votes, but UDF leading in Kerala

Firstpost editor G Pramod Kumar reports that the BJP is poised to win its first ever seat in Kerala in Thiruvananthupram.

The lead of BJP candidate O Rajagopal against Congress’s Shashi Tharaoor has crossed 10,000 votes, he reports.

However, the picture otherwise isn’t too bad for the Congress in the state for now. Here’s what the tally looks like presently:

In Telangana it is the Telangana Rashtra Samiti that is well in the lead.

9:55 am: TDP alliance pays off for BJP in Seemandhra

The TDP alliance with the BJP seems to be paying off with the alliance leading in 18 seats in the region presently, reports TV9.

9:45 am: In Seemandhra, TDP-BJP alliance races to lead in Assembly elections

OK so it’s not the biggest concern nationally today but in the new state of Seemandhra, the TDP is off to an early lead in the Assembly elections.

TDP was leading in over 50 Assembly seats and the YSR Congress Party in 40, as per initial trends in Seemandhra.

TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu was leading from Kuppam in Chittoor district by over 1,400 votes.

9:36 am: Congress leads in Puducherry

The Congress is in the lead in Puducherry, reports CNN-IBN.

9:35 am: In Andhra Pradesh, TRS and YSR Congress running neck and neck

The TRS and YSR Congress are locked in a heated race with both parties leading in 10 seats each. But the TDP that is out in front with leads in 14 seats so far.
