Information accessed through the Right to Information Act has established that BSP chief Mayawati was alloted three bungalows in Lutyens’ Delhi that were then merged into one ‘superbungalow’, raising questions of propriety and whether this was a sop to the Uttar Pradesh leader. AFP[/caption] A report in the Times of India said information provided by the Central Public Works Department showed that three Type VIII government bungalows, each with four bedrooms, were allocated to Mayawati – one to her personally, one to the BSP and one to a trust run by the party. The bungalows are located on Gurudwara Rakabganj Road, next to Parliament House. “These bungalows have since been combined into one in the name of Bahujan Prerna Trust, according to documents available under RTI in response to an application filed by activist S C Agrawal,” said the report. According to the report, there has been unauthorized construction of rooms, an office, toilet, kitchen and a “fibre sheet covering an area of 238 sq m” in Bungalow No 12" which is allotted to the Bahujan Prerna Trust. Agarwal has sought a probe into the allotment of multiple bungalows to Mayawati.
Information was accessed by activist under Right to Information Act.
