Keeping in mind the spiralling cost of elections, election watch-dog Mizoram People Forum (MPF) has urged all political parties not to set up any campaign office and rather focus on door-to-door campaign. Couple of months back, MPF also signed a pact with major political parties in the state to hold free and fair polls. “The parties which had signed the MoU with the state election watchdog are Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Mizo Peoples Convention (MPC), Zoram National Party (ZNP), Mizo National Front (MNF) and the BJP for co-operation at Synod Committee Hall in Aizawl"— E-PAO reported.[caption id=“attachment_1175229” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Seeking fair polls. AFP[/caption] As per the pact, the political parties have to follow 27 rules including announcing a manifesto which is practically implementable. “Meanwhile, Mizoram corruption watchdog the People’s Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) has started its spade-work as to what extent the present Congress government has implemented regarding the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee ’s election manifesto of 2008. The PRISM said it will put its findings in public domain"— the E-PAO piece said.
