Shinde may be Leader of the Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is likely to be the Leader of the Lok Sabha following the exit of Pranab Mukherjee who is set to become the next President.

The talk in Congress is that though P Chidambaram and Virbhadra Singh were senior, the job could go to Shinde as he could be more suitable to take everyone along.

While Singh is no longer a minister now, Chidambaram's hands are full with various responsibilities.

A senior minister said that it was the prime minister's prerogative to decide the Leader of the House in Lok Sabha.

Kamal Nath and M Veerappa Moily are also among the senior ministers.

The announcement on the issue is expected to be made just a few days ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament which is being tentatively planned from 8 August to 12 September.
