This morning's Delhi newspapers were dominated by the latest Commonwealth Games scandal. The Comptroller and Auditor General's report has estimated that Sheila Dixit's government spent nearly Rs 101 crore in the streetscaping projects in Delhi and that these projects were ill-planned. Dixit has defended herself stating that her conscience was clear and that the projects undertaken had to be completed in time.
In other news, The Times of India has done a survey on the Lokpal bill and the results are rather interesting. According to the survey, it appears that 97% of the participants support the Lokpal bill as drafted by Team Anna and are in favour of having the prime minister and the judiciary under the Lokpal Bill. Most of the participants are against the bill drafted by the government. The survey was done through an online poll.
The other major news on the Delhi front pages was the election of Sadananda Gowda as the new chief minister of Karnataka after the exit of Yeddyurappa. He was elected through a secret ballot and defeated Jagdish Shettar.
