Mumbai: A full blown social media war on Tuesday broke out between Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aaditya and BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar over claiming credit for development works like a football ground, open garden and promenade in suburban Bandra.
It began with Aaditya, the president of Yuva Sena, tweeting, “I have proposed to MSRDC minister Eknath Shinde (of Shiv Sena) that MSRDC develop an open space for all in its 22 acre plot at Bandra reclamation.”
“The plot is on the other side of road, not near the bay, and can be made and maintained by MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) as a playground and open space for everyone.
“The playground would have a natural walking path, lined with trees and open space for kids to play whichever sport they want to,” Aaditya said.
“Within the plot, I have requested that a smaller zone be made into a pet park, children’s play area and flower garden, Called ‘Bandra Ground’,” the Yuva Sena chief added.

Shelar responded, saying, “My appeal to Aaditya Thackeray, Give credit where (it is) due. It does not cost a thing. I feel what is going on from your fellows is ‘credit corruption’.”
“What I have learnt in my short period as MLA is that good work sets an example. Sometimes other parties want credit for your work,” the Mumbai BJP chief said.

“I feel awkward settling the score on credits for this MSRDC project. But if we don’t give credit where (it is) due, development will get hurt,” he said.
“This culture of putting your flag, taking post and blatantly stealing credit has brought our state down. We don’t need to inherit this please,” he said.
“Shiv Sena has never done anything like pet theme park, open garden, football,” Shelar said.
Shelar said, on the promenade front, he got all stakeholders together, organised multiple meetings and got the architect finalised.
“On football front, I promoted football all along. Got action plan finalized. Paid deposit. Now Aaditya Thackeray wants credit. Come on. Cheap,” he tweeted.
