The Enforcement Directorate today questioned officials of Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kolkata in connection with the Saradha scam. Sources told CNN-IBN that “the hotel had played host to the meetings held between Trinamool Congress leaders and Saradha group chairman Sudipta Sen” which were attended by senior Trinamool Congress leaders Mukul Roy, Madan Mitra and Kunal Ghosh. “Hotel authorities have confirmed that rooms used to be booked in Kunal Ghosh’s name."— the CNN-IBN report said . Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress has been relentlessly facing the heat over the scam forcing party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to aggressively defend her cadres and the party. “Madan and Mukul (Mukul Roy, TMC general secretary) have done no wrong. As they are deeply involved in the party organisation, a dirty political conspiracy is being hatched to put them behind the bars in order to weaken the party,” a leader quoted Banerjee as saying in the closed door party meeting on 3 January. The chief minister, during the meeting, also accused the Centre of trying to tarnish the party’s reputation by using Central agencies against it and asked TMC leaders to reach out to the masses and conduct movements against its anti-people policies.
