RSS, BJP should give Modi history lessons: Digvijaya Singh

New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh today ridiculed Narendra Modi over his “gaffes” during the recent Hunkar rally speech in Patna even as he asked RSS and BJP to teach the Gujarat Chief Minister lessons in Indian history. “RSS and BJP must give Modi lessons in Indian history to avoid such guffaws. Or is this the history taught at Saraswati Shishu Mandir?” Singh, the Congress General Secretary, said in a post on ’twitter.com’. AFP[/caption] Posting a poem by a poet from Bundelkhand region on “Modi’s guffaws of Indian history”, Singh asked “Does BJP still want Modi to be their PM-in-waiting?”. Singh’s attack on Modi came a day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar mocked his Gujarat counterpart’s “amazing” knowledge of history. Kumar had referred to Modi’s wrongful mention of the Taxila historical site as being in Bihar and of Chandragupta Maurya as a ruler belonging to Gupta dynasty. Another party general secretary, Shakeel Ahmed, meanwhile, hit out at Modi in another tweet, saying, “When you address a gathering, consider yourself the ‘Wisest’ and the listeners a ‘A Bunch of Fools’. Modi treats his followers the same way.” Taxila is a historical site in the north-western part of present-day Pakistan while Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of the Maurya dynasty, which ruled from Pataliputra, or what is now Patna.
