Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh today criticised the BJP poll campaign chief Narendra Modi’s campaigning style and claimed it was as aggressive as ‘bodyline’ in cricket and said that the Congress wouldn’t indulge in similar campaigning.
“Modi after Douglas Jardine is the practitioner of bodyline and you know what Bill Woodfull said when bodyline was taking place, he said there are two teams out there and one of them is not playing cricket. The abrasive and the abusive manner in which he carries on a campaign, we do not want to follow in the same category but he is a political reality,” Ramesh told CNN-IBN in an exclusive interview .
Making it clear that the 2014 Lok Sabha elections are not an individual battle between Modi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, the Congress strategist said that the Gujarat chief minister is fond of blowing his own trumpet.
“I, I, I, me, me, me. I am your Alibaba. I am the guy who got your ‘Jaddu ki Chhadi’ (Magic wand),” Ramesh told CNN-IBN while describing Modi’s style of interaction with the electorate.
The BJP may on Friday declare Modi as their prime ministerial candidate.
