Ramdev unrelenting, wants the corrupt hanged

New Delhi: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev remains adamant on his fast. He made his serious intent known on Friday after he demanded that those involved in corruption cases and accused of stashing black money should be tried in fast-track courts and should get death sentence if found guilty. Calling people accused of corruption and of accumulating black money as traitors, Ramdev said India can once again become a superpower if the government tackles the problem on war footing. Ramdev said that the slogan of his movement is: “Remove corruption, bring back black money.” He said that the judiciary was burdened with crores of cases and so would not be able to handle corruption and black money-related cases. “Our courts have a backlog of 3.5 crore cases and corruption and black money cases are being heard by the same courts. We should have separate courts to deal with corruption cases and exemplary punishment should be meted to the culprits. They should be given death sentence. They should be hanged to death,” he said while addressing a mammoth gathering at Delhi’s Ram Lila Ground on Friday. Indian currency will be stronger than the dollar and pound. India was once the leader in every sphere of the world. It was economically most strong and had rulers who were virtuous. Now, our country is at the bottom of every development index and at the top of corruption, population explosion, poverty and crime,” said the yoga guru. He called people like Hasan Ali Khan who have stashed black money worth several crores in foreign bank as the enemy of the country. He started his speech by thanking the people for the “overwhelming support” to his movement against corruption and black money. “I admire the fact that thousands of people have joined the movement against corruption. People have come from over 2000 kms to join the movement against corruption and I thank them for their courage,” he said. Ramdev has announced that he will launch his fast against corruption and to bring back black money stashed by Indians in foreign banks from June 4. He said that will start his fast from 7 am on Saturday which will continue till 9 pm. “Countries like the USA, the UK, Germany and Japan are called powerful nations, but these countries have debt of several lakhs of crores. In India, there are many people who have several crores in black money and they have kept it in foreign countries. We have to bring back the money stashed in foreign countries,” he said amid loud applause from his supporters.
