Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has blamed the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh for not implementing central government schemes in the state. “State governments don’t implement Central schemes. The money given to them always goes missing. That is why UP has fallen behind when it comes to development,” Rahul said at an election rally in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh today. Now they even get water in the desert. That is the good work done by Congress government. Delhi and Maharashtra too have developed because of Congress governments.” Rahul, also indirectly took on the BJP, saying “some parties believe in communal polarisation just before elections.” He also said that the Congress believes in inclusive growth. “We want Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians to all live in harmony,” he said. Rahul said that he hoped more people from UP will join politics and run for elections to bring change to the state. In his second visit to the state in October, Rahul first went to Hamirpur in Bundelkhand region, and then to Deoria in the eastern part of the state. Earlier, he had visited Aligarh and Rampur in the western part of the state, where he criticised the state’s ruling Samajwadi Party and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party for engineering communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in which over 40 people were killed.
