Bareilly: Union Minister Salman Khurshid today said his promise of nine percent reservation for Muslims in Uttar Pradesh was not a violation of the model code of conduct. “The Sachar Committee and the Rangnath Misra Commission have recommended 8.5 percent quota for Muslims. What is wrong if I talk about nine percent reservation for them,” he told reporters here. Khurshid had said the Congress would provide nine percent reservation within the existing OBC quota. On Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi terming his promise as violation of the model code of conduct, the Minister today said the BJP leader should learn more about law. “I have not violated the model code of conduct,” Khurshid said. “I have a right to put forth my view. It should reach the people,” he said. PTI
