PM thanks journalists covering Parliament, says 'they dedicated their lives to report the works of the House'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the works of journalists who spent their lives covering the Parliament. His comments came as he addressed the Lok Sabha on the first day of the Special Parliament Session. “As we are leaving this house today, I also want to remember those journalist colleagues who dedicated their entire lives to reporting on the work of the Parliament. In a way, they remained living witnesses. They conveyed minute-by-minute information to the country,” he said.

He added, “Journalists who covered the Parliament, perhaps their names may not be well-known, but nobody can forget them. Not just for the news, but they devoted their strength to understanding India’s journey of development from the Parliament building.” The Special Session of Parliament began in the old Parliament Building following which it will be moved to the new building on 19 September on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. “Before Independence, this Parliament was the place of imperial legislative council. After the Independence, it got the identity of Sansad Bhawan. While it is true that constructing this building was the decision of the foreign rulers, but we can never forget and can say it proudly that the sweat, hard work and money used in building it was of my countrymen,” said PM Modi in Lok Sabha.
