The Bharat Bandh called on May 31 brought much of the country to a standstill with widespread protests and arrests. While private  offices went about their work and commerce was unaffected, political parrying was at its worst across India.

When CNN-IBN in a late night show, asked Meenakshi Lekhi, spokesperson of the BJP, whether the bandh achieved anything except trouble the common man, she said, "Even though we called for it, it is the people of India who responded to the bandh."

Madhu Gaud Yaskhi, Congress MP, was on the same television debate in which Lekhi made the strong comment against the PM Manmohan Singh.

"There should be some decency when you are addressing the Prime Minister," Yakshi said in response.
