Boycotting the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan’s customary tea party on the eve of assembly session, the opposition leader Eknath Khadse slammed Chavan, calling him ’the most corrupt person’ for allegedly backing corruption-tainted ministers and bureaucrats in the state. The opposition, Shiv Sena, BJP and MNS, are likely to corner the Congress-NCP led state government on various issues including the not tabling the irrigation scam report, its failure to provide the relief to farmers affected by hailstorm, law and order, LBT issue, among other issues during the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature starting tomorrow. [caption id=“attachment_1542235” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan[/caption] “Since the Maharashtra government has lost all the credibility, we have decide to boycott the the customary tea party hosted by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan this evening,” said Khadse. “The Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan is the most corrupt person in the state because he is intentionally backing corrupt ministers and bureaucrats. Chavan has lost all the credibility and is conducing the office like a helpless person,” he claimed, adding that corruption related issues will be raised during the session. Referring to the state government’s plan to expand the cabinet, he said: “There is no value for Chavan’s words within the party and in NCP. Today’s incident of postponing the cabinet expansion after its announcement has never happened in the history of Maharashtra.” The state government’s cabinet expansion was supposed to take place in the afternoon, however it was put on hold since the party is yet to decide on which leaders will be included in the cabinet. “Crimes against dalits, women and recent attack on villagers by police for demanding liquor ban show that there is a complete failure of the law and order in the state. Ideally, the state government should have resigned after the debacle in the Lok Sabha election,” he added and attacked state Home Minister RR Patil for making only announcements and promises. Vinod Tawade, opposition leader in the legislative council questioned the state government’s move to reinstate the Adarsh-tainted officials. “To save the former chief minister Ashok Chavan, the state government has reinstated the Adarsh-tainted officials,” he alleged.
