Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj's quick response to bring back Geeta , a deaf and mute Indian girl, who has been stuck in Pakistan for 14 years, appears to have given hope to many who have been separated from loved ones living across the border. Now, a 21-year-old woman from Aligarh named Nida has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help her bring back her brother Salman who has been in Pakistan for 15 years now. The Hindustan Times reported that Nida’s parent’s visited Pakistan in 1993 and had taken Salman along with them. And while Salman fell sick, the parents had to come back to India because their visa had expired. Salman had to stay back with his grandparents in Karachi, and when in 1995 her parents went back to fetch Salman, who was just 5 years old, he could not identify his parents and hence could not be brought back. After Geeta’s story made headlines and Bajrangi Bhaijaan released, Nida was inspired and wrote to PM Modi. And she has much faith in him. The Hindustan Times quoted her as saying, “PM Narendra Modi is very dynamic. I have sent him a letter with a rakhi and demanded Salman as gift from him.” Read the whole story here.
