Nitish Kumar sends Rs 5 crore for relief and rehabilitation in Tamil Nadu

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday sent Rs five crore to Tamil Nadu for relief and rehabilitation work in the southern state battered by incessant rains. Kumar sent a cheque of Rs five crore to his Tamil Nadu counterpart Jayalalithaa from the Chief Minister’s Relief fund for relief and rehabilitation of victims of the rains, an official statement said in Patna. Kumar expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives and property due to the rains in Tamil Nadu. In a letter to Jayalalithaa, the Bihar CM expressed confidence that the southern state would overcome the grief in her able guidance and leadership. Kumar on Wednesday attributed the natural disaster in Tamil Nadu to climate change. His deputy Tejaswi Yadav also came out in support of the victims of Tamil Nadu rains and announced to donate his first month’s salary for relief work in the southern state. PTI
