NCTC worse than TADA, no question of voting in favour: Mamata

UPA ally Trinamool Congress and BSP walked out from Lok Sabha during the vote on NCTC on Monday. TMC had moved an amendment demanding that the reference to National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Presidential address be removed. State chief ministers have come out in the open against the formation of the counter terrorism body. The minsters believe that NCTC goes against the federal structure of India. Commenting on NCTC, West Bengal Chief Ministe Mamata Banerjee said, “NCTC is worse than TADA and POTA, so there is no question of voting in favour of it.” [caption id=“attachment_249227” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“PTI”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Mamata_Banerjee_PTINew1.jpg "Mamata_Banerjee_PTINew") [/caption] After Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi’s resignation, Mamata  demanded modification in rail fares. She said she wanted modification in rail fares so that common people do not get affected. The Trinamool Congress chief said, “Increase in upper class fares can be tolerated but not in general classes.” Dinesh Trivedi, in his railway budget, had proposed a hike in the railway passenger fare. The hike in passenger fare was the first in 10 years.
