Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on 7 November, sources said on Thursday. Sources in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that this was disclosed by Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during a party convention in Srinagar on Wednesday. PTI[/caption] The prime minister will address a public rally in Srinagar in the afternoon of 7 November during his daylong visit to the state, the sources said. Modi will also inaugurate phase-2 of the Baghlihar hydro-electric power project in the Jammu region, the sources said, adding Modi is expected to announce a developmental package for the state. We have high hopes from this visit. It is expected the prime minister will announce a development/flood relief package during this visit, the sources said. This will be Modi’s first visit to the Kashmir Valley after the present PDP-BJP alliance took power in the state on 1 March, 2015. Modi’s last visit was on 17 July in connection with the birth anniversary of Congress leader, late Girdhari Lal Dogra. IANS
