Narendra Modi goes to Rajasthan, blames Cong for water woes

Accusing Congress of using a divide and rule policy, BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said the Centre has created a rift among states over the issue of water distribution. “There are confrontations among states over water sharing and this is all because of the Centre. Congress makes brothers, castes, communities and states confront each other because it follows a divide and rule policy,” Modi said at a rally in Rajasthan. More water can reach the parched region here after completion of the work, but the Centre is doing politics,” he alleged. “It is because of the sins of the Congress party that your lives are more painful,” Modi told the gathering. The Gujarat Chief Minister also alleged that the Congress-led government “worked for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in a manner that both Seemandhra and Telangana regions are burning.” “Both the regions which have common language also have an issue over water,” he said. Asserting that the BJP believed in the politics of development, he said, Gujarat progressed not because of him, but because of the vision of the people who elected a BJP government. He said that voting for BJP in Rajasthan would ensure similar development in that state as well. “…but Congress does not want to do anything in the name of development. It is just tossing freebies ahead of the election,” he said. Modi claimed that when people of Pali and nearby regions fall sick, they go to  Gujarat for treatment as there are no proper facilities available in the region. He also accused Congress of betraying the people by not bringing down high inflation in 100 days as promised in its 2009 Lok Sabha election campaign.
