Kohima: The ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Youth Wing on Friday staged a peaceful protest rally demanding cessation of the leadership crisis and taking the state forward towards development and progress.
Nearly 2000 youths of NPF walked from NPF Central office to Raj Bhavan holding placards and banners, some of which read "Stop dividing Naga society", "Don’t play with peoples’ mandate", "Hon’ble MLAs stop playing divisive politics”, "Don’t try to derail the Naga political process".
The NPF Youth wing submitted the representation to the Secretary to Governor at Raj Bhavan Secretariat. The NPF Youth wing urged the Governor to act only on the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers.
"Governor is the custodian of constitution ... uphold it," the NPF Youth wing pleaded.
After submission of the representation, NPF Youth Wing president Vihoshe Swu said the younger Naga generations are fed up of witnessing such internal leadership crisis within NPF.
He lamented that in this third term of NPF government, this is the fourth such internal crisis which has brought all developmental activities to a standstill.
Swu therefore expressed that true reconciliation among the leaders should be brought about at the earliest and such crisis should be the last for the party.
The NPF Youth wing expressed that the NPF is currently going through the political disturbance with dissident MLAs led by former chief minister TR Zeliang staking claim to form the government.
The youth wing claimed there is no withdrawal of support from the coalition which means that the present Council of Ministers still enjoys the confidence of the House.
However, pointing that Zeliang has staked claim to form the government claiming that he has the support of the majority of the legislators, NPF Youth Wing said the dissident group of legislators is primarily comprised of NPF
legislators, which makes it evident that the issue is essentially between the NPF legislators with Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu and NPF legislators with Zeliang.
Therefore, they claimed that the issue is purely an internal matter of the NPF party.
