Moga case: No law & order in Punjab, says Amarinder Singh

Moga: Citing the dreadful Moga molestation case, former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday demanded imposition of President’s Rule in Punjab and alleged that the law and order machinery in the state has “totally collapsed”. “The law and order machinery of the state, which had gone bankrupt long back, has totally collapsed,” Singh told reporters after meeting the parents of the girl who was thrown off a moving bus by her molesters in Moga. Singh also condemned the “hush-hush” manner in which the Moga incident victim was cremated. “The Badals behaved like the Britishers, who had cremated Bhagat Singh in the night to avoid public outburst,” he said. Earlier, the Congress leader expressed his condolences to the parents of the girl, saying that he was pained by the incident and his party stood by them in their hour of grief. He gave Rs 2 lakh to the girl’s parents on behalf of his party and assured them of bringing the culprits to book. Addressing a dharna outside the civil hospital, where the the girl’s parents are undergoing treatment, Singh said “he will ensure that the Badals were thrown out of Punjab”. “Their (Badals) countdown has already started and soon they will run for cover,” he said.
