Amid reports of dissidence and rift in his party, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi sounded the bugle for 2012 elections today. Addressing his partymen on the second day of the state unit meeting of BJP at Rajkot, Modi said he was confident of winning the elections, once again. “In 2007, we had majority; in 2012, chances have only become higher,” he said. Taking on the Congress led UPA government, Modi said the country was suffering because of a weak central government, paralysed by allies. Hitting out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Modi said, " Every time our Prime Minister assures the nation that the inflation will come down. The media must show the PM’s bytes and his false promises." Setting the agenda of his poll campaign, Modi said, Gujarat believes in development and its politics will also reflect that sentiment. “We in Gujarat have chosen the path of development. We will never leave the politics of development,” he said. “We believe in peace, harmony, brotherhood and development,” he added. Modi, however, chose to remain silent on the issue of Sanjay Joshi. New anti-Modi posters mysteriously appeared at the BJP state unit’s meeting venue on Sunday morning.
