Modi govt has taken several anti-people decisions: Haryana CM

Bhiwani: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today attacked the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, saying it has taken several “anti-people” decisions within days of coming to power because of which people are feeling cheated. “BJP will never be a party of farmers and labourers. Prime Minister Narender Modi had promised to give diesel to farmers at a rate of Rs 40 per litre, but he has increased the price of diesel soon after taking oath and now prices of diesel will increase every month,” said Hooda, addressing his party workers here. “Similarly, Modi had promised to reduce the price of milk to Rs 20, but he has not taken any step in this direction after assuming charge,” he said. [caption id=“attachment_1568073” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![PTI](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Modi_PMO380PTI2.jpg) PTI[/caption] Hooda said in the days to come, prices of other essential commodities like cooking gas would also increase which would result in inflation. “It’s been only a few days that the BJP government has been formed at the Centre and within such a small duration, it has started taking anti-people decisions due to which the voter of the country feel cheated,” he said. “Since the BJP government has assumed office, there is power shortage in Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan, whereas they had made people dream of good days,” he said. Hooda also made several comparisons between his state and Modi’s Gujarat. He said if people consider Gujarat model better, then why have they never demanded its implementation in Haryana. Taking a dig, Hooda said if Gujarat model was implemented in Haryana, the old-age pension being given to senior citizens would reduce to Rs 400 from Rs 1,000 and farmers would get power at the rate of Rs 2.70 per unit instead of 10 paise per unit. “In Haryana, girls and boys belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes are being given Rs 225 and Rs 150 per month, respectively, as financial assistance from Class 1 onwards. On the other hand, in Gujarat, girls are being given Rs 225 annually and that too is given to only five percent girls and boys,” he said. “Modi himself had said in a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh that the per capita income of a state reflects its development and in such a case, naturally Haryana is number one state in the country where the per capita income is Rs 1.35 lakh as compared to per capita income of Rs 75,000 in Gujarat,” he said. The Chief Minister, meanwhile, said in the wake of severe hot weather and the possibility of weak monsoon, the Haryana government will make all efforts, including buying power at higher rates, to ensure that the crops of the farmers do not die.
