Mizoram polls: 78.81% turnout during repoll

Aizawl: Voters’ turnout during re-polling at a polling booth in the Aizawl South-I Assembly seat held today was 78.71 percent, state joint chief electoral officer H Lalengmawia said. PTI [/caption] Re-poll in polling booth-I of the Republic Veng polling station was ordered by the Election Commission after it was found that there were discrepancies in the number of votes polled. A polling officer in the booth was also accused of instructing some voters to vote for a particular candidate and the matter was reported to the state election department. Sitting legislator K Liantlinga of the Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP), R Vanlalvena of the ruling Congress and RK Lianzuala of the Mizo National Front (MNF) are contesting from the seat. PTI
