Manohar Lal Khattar says Haryana govt will conduct rally to mark its three years

Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said his government plans to mark its three years with a massive rally in October and a slew of events, including a good governance conclave. PTI[/caption] He announced this at the Haryana Swarna Jayanti Celebrations Authority’s Governing Body meeting here. The Khattar government’s three years coincides with Haryana’s 50 years of statehood. “The massive rally will be held in the last week of October and it will highlight the major achievements of the government,” Khattar said after voting in the presidential election. He said he believed that the NDA’s nominee Ram Nath Kovind will be elected as India’s next president. “It has been decided that the rally will also commemorate the concluding ceremony of the state’s Swarna Jayanti Year. The date and venue of the proposed rally would be finalised soon,” the chief minister said. The Khattar government completes its three years on 26 October. The chief minister said he would address a series of gatherings at his Chandigarh residence in August. These will be attended by representatives of various sections of the society, including farmers and traders, he said. Khattar directed officials to organise a state-level Good Governance Conclave where intellectuals of the state will share their views on the issue. To promote Haryana’s art and culture at the national and the international level, the state would soon announce its new film policy, the draft of which has already been prepared, he said. He said an exhibition of about 100 photographs of people who made vital contribution to India’s freedom struggle would be organised. “It has been decided to organise the Haryana Swarna Jayanti quiz contest in all schools and colleges of the state to create awareness and generate interest among the youth about the state’s history, culture, literature, ethos and personalities,” Khattar said. He said the BSF has sought permission for its women’s motorcycle commando team to perform in various events being during the Swarna Jayanti Year. On providing identity cards to gau rakshaks in the state, Khattar said if such cards are issued, it would be done in consideration of the law and order situation.
