Imphal: On Wednesday, a group of irate student activists belonging to Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) vandalised the state unit office of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) situated in the heart of Imphal city as they were denied to meet BJP leaders. Kangleipak Students Association(KSA) launched its agitation demanding justice for the extra judicial killings in Manipur including fake encounter victims like Ch Sanjit and Rabina who were killed in broad day light of 23 July 2009 at crowded Khwairamband Keithel in Imphal. Reuters[/caption] They demanded the removal of Arm Forces Special Power Act (Afspa) from the insurgency-hit state of Manipur. They also urged the political parties and their sponsored candidates to lay down their commitment to the people of Manipur that there will be no more fake encounter and that they will stand against it when they become Legislature/MLA. Sources said a group of KSA members first gathered at the gate of the BJP office and demanded to meet the leaders. But when they were told that none were present, they went on rampage, damaging furniture in the office and breaking the glass panes of its windows. The students left the place shouting slogans and the police was later called by BJP workers. Police said investigation into the incident was on but nobody was arrested. Polling for the 60-seat Manipur Assembly will be held on 4 March and 8 March. Earlier, KSA along with Khwairamband Ima Keithel staged sit-in protest at Khwairamband Keithel Temporary Shed, demanding justice for the extra judicial killings. Protestors of KSA and Khwairamband Ima Keithel stormed the Congress Bhavan with their demands for fake encounter. A memorandum was also submitted to the concerned head of MPCC so that elected candidate will not support any culprits involved in fake encounters and give the culprit fair punishment according to the law of the land. However soon after the incident, BJP Manipur’s official handle on Twiter, tweeted images of the rampage and blamed Congress for the incident.
